Networking Concepts
A. Answer the following questions in short
Q.1 How many types of network are in computer network ?
Ans:- i) PAN ( Personal Area Network )
ii) LAN ( Local Area Network )
iii) MAN( Metropolitan Area Network )
iv) WAN ( Wide Area Network )
v) CAN ( Campus Area Network )
Q.2 How many types of topology are in Network ?
Ans:- There are six type of topology
1. Point to point Topology
2. Bus Topology
3. Ring Topology
4. Star Topology
5. Tree Topology
6. Mesh Topology
Q.3 Explain differences between Internet and Intranet ?
Ans:- Intranet :- This is a private network used within an organisation ,accessible only to its members or authorised users.
Internet :- This is public network that is open to everyone , allowing anyone to connect to it .
Q.4 What do you under stand by Server ?
Ans:- Websites are not stored on a personal computer , but on powerful computers known as servers. These servers act as large storage centres that hold information and data of websites
B. Answer the following question in long .
Q.1 What is computer network ,and what are its key components ?
Ans:- A computer network connects two or more computers or devices to share information , resources and services.
Key components of computer network :- Key components required for building a wired network include a Network Interface Card , Rj 45 Cables , and hubs switches to manage data flow between devices.
Q.2 Explain the differences between a PAN, LAN and WAN .
Ans:- PAN -: A personal area network ( PAN) allows communication between devices like personal computers , mobile phones ,digital cameras , personal digital Assistants , and tablet ,this type of network typically covers a small area .
LAN:- A local area network ( LAN) is a network that connects two or more computers and other devices such as printers and scanners , within a limited area. This could be with in a single room , building or even a small campus.
WAN:- A wide area network connects multiple computers that are located for a part , often in different cities , countries , or even continents .These computers are linked using telecommunication lines or satellite signals.
Q.3 Describe the role of a Network Interface card in a computer network ?
Ans:- A Network Interface Card( NIC) is a hardware component that enables a computer or a node to connect to a network . Most modern computer motherboards come with an inbuilt NIC. The NIC allows the computer to participate in network communication by providing a link between the computer and the network .
Q.4 What is a hub , and how does it work in a network ?
Ans:- A hub is a basic networking device that connects multiple computers and other devices to enable data exchange. It functions as a central point for data transmission , forwarding from one connected device to all other .
Working of hub :- 1. When a device sends data to a hub, the respects and amplifies the signal.
2. Each part can then connect to a different device an the network.
Q.5 Explain the concept of Networking topology .Name the different types of Network topologies ?
Ans:- Network topology refers to the arrangement or layout of various nodes , links and other peripherals devices . It helps determine how efficient and reliable data transmission will be across the network.
There are six types of network topology :-
1. Point to point topology
2. Bus topology
3. Ring topology
4. Star topology
5. Tree topology
6. Mesh Topology
What am I?
1. Intranet
2. Node
3. Personal Area Network (PAN)
4. Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)
5. Web Server
6. Network Interface Card (NIC)
7. Switch
8. Star Topology
